Kralendijk nightlife - dance, drink, have fun!
Surprisingly, for its small size there are plenty of good eating opportunities in and around Kralendijk, many of them within walking distance of downtown. It's possible to sample a variety of cuisines, among them Italian, Indonesian, Dutch and local fare. While hotel restaurants are generally more expensive than dining in town, Kralendijk also has a couple of grocery stores and bakeries offering a wide selection of fresh produce and imported goods. The many snack stands scattered throughout the island are the best place to try delicious local fare, including goat, fish or conch stews. Most meals cost under US$8. While Bonaire is not known for its nightlife, there are a few fun spots where you can unwind at the end of the day, and many of the bars at hotels and resorts have live music on weekends. City Cafe Kaya Grandi is a great place to grab a light snack and drink a pint or two as the sun goes down. Happy hour 5.30-6.30pm; live bands on weekends. Cozzoli's Pizzeria Harbourside Mall. One of the few places on the island open for breakfast, serving bacon and eggs as well as some fruit plates. For lunch and dinner they offer a variety of tasty pizzas and grill items starting at NAf20. The outdoor covered terrace has harbour views. Mon-Sat 8am-midnight, Sun 8am-10pm. De Tuin Eetcafe Kaya is a small, lively Dutch-owned cafe in the centre of town serving excellent meals starting at NAf25. Lunch and dinner usually include a good selection of seafood and curry dishes, as well as burgers and steaks. Internet access is also available (US$4/30min). Mon-Fri 11am-midnight, Sat & Sun 2pm-midnight. Karel's Beach Bar On a small pier across from Harbourside Mall. A favourite watering hole for locals and tourists alike, with good views of the busy harbour. Happy hour 5.30-8pm. Local bands play on weekends. Mona Lisa Bar and Restaurant is located on the main street in town, this cosy Dutch-owned establishment serves scrumptious seafood and smoked chicken dishes. Expect to pay NAf35 for the catch of the day. Mon-Fri: restaurant 6-10pm, bar 4pm-2am. Old Inn Opposite the Plaza Resort on Abraham Boulevard. Affordable Indonesian restaurant serving up large portions of their famous rijsttafel (a feast of sweet and moderately spicy dishes). Can get crowded in the evenings. Open daily after 5pm except Wed.
