Kralendijk golf - do it in an exotic way
The first Bonairean Golf Club "Piedra So" is founded on April 14, 2004. Imagine playing in a complete natural local environment, which means no grass grown fairways, sophisticated greens, but fairways with the spares local vegetation and "browns", existing from local soil, instead of greens. These browns are maintained as often as possible, so putting becomes not too difficult. Putting on the "browns" stays however an unpredictable challenge. The founders of the course kept as main goal, to keep the landscaping as natural as possible. Not hurting any vegetation in order to make this an ecologic course. They completed their goal very successful, as the players even have to challenge some water obstacles. In dry season these water obstacles are marked by yellow poles. Players on the golf course "Piedra So" must at least have some knowledge about the general rules and regulations about the game and behavior on the course, as are conducted by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. As the course of Piedra So is very special and significantly different from regular courses having beautiful fairways and greens, we were forced to make some local regulations. These rules are: .animals have priority above players, .it is allowed to replace a ball to a maximum of 4 inches / 10 cm, however only on the fairway, .a ball landing in bushes within one traditional putter length may be replaced to the fairway, however not closer to the hole, without a penalty, the pond on the 5th hole is marked with yellow sticks, playing out of the pond is not allowed, the lateral water on the 14th hole is marked with red sticks, players on the 7th hole should ring the bell, to give players on the 6th the sign for teeing off. Coming from the town of Kralendijk, follow the Kaya Korona which is the main road to the village of Rincon. After passing the RBTT bank and the Tung Fong Store n.v. you will find the road to Lagoen on your right. Follow this road, pass Lagoen Hill and follow the signs. Following the signs you get to a small settlement. Take that turn to the right and follow this dirt road all the way to the course. Again follow the signs and after some 10 minutes you have arrived and ready to play. Be aware that there is not yet an operational reception or clubhouse to welcome you. In the covered porch you find a black post office box, inside you find the scorecard 9 holes / scorecard 18 holes of our club.
