Fishing in Kralendijk Bonaire makes for perfect bone fishing !
Bonaire is an excellent destination for deep sea saltwater fishing, with great opportunities to catch a wide variety of fish off its shores. In Bonaire, there are several charter fishing boats that are available for tourists to choose from in Kralendijk. Charter fishing boats in Bonaire head offshore into the Caribbean Sea in pursuit of sailfish, marlin, tuna, king mackerel, dolphin, wahoo, snapper, amberjack, and barracuda. In Bonaire, charter fishing boats may offer excellent fishing on the reefs for barracuda, jack, and grouper. For those who enjoy saltwater fly fishing, the flats in Bonaire are excellent fishing grounds for bonefish. One of the biggest thrills a person who enjoys fishing can experience is to match wits with an elusive, feisty, bonefish. There are a number of "secret" spots the local guides have staked out on the island and are willing to share with visiting fishermen. In addition to bone fishing, there are a number of charter boats that will take anglers sport fishing in the waters off the coast of Bonaire. Sailfish, marlin, tuna and tarpon are the most likely to be caught, however it is not uncommon to catch wahoo, dorado and other edible species. Bonaire also hosts a number of local and International fishing tournaments during the year. It is necessary for all who use the waters of the Bonaire National Marine Park to pay a Nature Fee of $10.00 per year ($25.00 for scuba divers). At the time of payment, you will receive a specially designed tag indicating your support for nature preservation and a receipt. Keep both, as they will also provide you with complimentary admission to Washington-Slagbaai National park throughout the year your tag is valid. Tags are available at all dive operations, hotels, resorts, windsurfing operations, sport fishing charter boats, sail/snorkel/water taxi operations, marinas, and other water sports operations on Bonaire. Deap Sea fishing on Bonaire can be done close to the shore because of the drop off. Also, because of the unique shape of the island, fishing can be done in calm waters. Deap Sea fishing is done by trolling with bait and with lures. You will fish for Marlin, Dorado, Wahoo, Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna and Yellowfin Tuna. Night fishing is done by slow trolling or anchoring. Live and dead bait are used. You may catch horse eye jacks, cubera snappers, yellow tail snappers, barracuda, etc. Reef fishing is done by slow trolling along the coastline using live bait or lures. You may catch barracuda, snappers, and tuna. This is great for light-tackle anglers and is a fun activity for kids, too.
